It is just under a year since I first walked into the ITRM clinic in Doncaster. My husband and I had been persuaded to go by a number of friends and colleagues who had all benefited from the “healing hands “ of Aidan Robinson.
From the first time we entered the building we recognised the professionalism of the entire establishment and also the friendliness of the front line Customer Care team.
Getting the balance of formality, professionalism and warmth into somewhere is not easy. Yara the Clinic Manager has successfully managed it here .
Initially I had made an appointment to see Aidan Robinson with lots of niggles, all a sign of age I fear, and with a particularly aggravating neck pain. The first consultation was thorough and I was hooked. He was friendly, reassuring and passionate about his work. Over the weeks he not only resolved my aches and pains but took me through a fascinating tour of chiropractic therapy. I was fascinated and very keen to discuss his clinic with others. At the time my husband was receiving treatment for problems which Aidan Robinson explained, had existed for ever. Currently my husband is on a maintenance programme and all is going well .
Two weeks ago I suffered a trauma to the knee doing something as simple as moving a foot stool!!! I knew I needed the help of Aidan Robinson and his team. Initially I saw Vicky Brooks because Aidan Robinson was not working. She was absolutely fantastic and put my mind at ease, explaining clearly what I had done and how it would be treated. Aidan Robinson took over the next day and the tear to the meniscus cartilage was in excellent hands. Treatment was swift, effective and recovery was measureable. To me this was a nightmare. How long would I not be able to visit the gym, what was the prognosis, would it need surgery and so on! Aidan Robinson, in his calm, friendly and knowledgeable way allayed all those fears and talked about what I could do and when, not about what I could not do.
I am well on the road to recovery thanks to the entire team. The Doctors were excellent and Aidan Robinson continues to be the best advert for Chiropractic treatment there could be. No pain is too small to be considered .Going to Aidan Robinson is like going to your favourite hairdresser and you always come out feeling a million dollars. I cannot thank the Customer Care team enough. Jayne and Ann are always so reassuring and helpful. Ann took my first plaintive call when I injured my knee and was on the phone to me within minutes with an appointment. She saw me through the doors on each subsequent appointment and noted the improvement. Her hot chocolate takes some beating as well!!!!!! These two ladies are utterly professional and hugely efficient and welcoming. If you telephone you are never left hanging on listening to “Greensleeves” You are told they will phone you back and they do.
My husband and I will continue to recommend Aidan Robinson and the entire team of ITRM Clinic to everyone in need, young and old.Mrs Cherryl Maltby

At Mat & Mouse IT Services we believe in providing a friendly, personal and efficient service to all our customers. We don’t want to baffle them with industry speak, or make them think we are rocket scientists. We just want to get the job done with the minimum of disruption and worry for the customer.
So when Clare, a very keen gym enthusiast began to take up running more seriously she found that she was picking up various running related injuries which caused a great deal of frustration. The physiotherapy route worked at helping these injuries, but did not seem to help prevent them from returning.
When she went to see Victoria Brooks, instead of being told the eaded words “you have to stop and rest for a few weeks”, Clare was encouraged to continue the same level of activity and continue training throughout the course of the treatment. The treatment has been highly effective, and since using the orthotics, Clare has been injury free for over a year.
At all times the staff have been friendly, approachable and responsive, and the clinic has a warm calm atmosphere.
We will continue to recommend ITRM to our friends, colleagues, and indeed anybody who has a spine!
Best wishes,
Ian and Clare Smith
I was a confident eighteen year old with my full future in front of me when I had a car crash which changed everything.
During the accident I received blows to my head but thought I had walked away unscathed.
Time went on and I started with dizzy spells, headaches, sickness and nose bleeds. This continued for years with numerous trips to the doctors and hospital for countless tests and even more tablets; unfortunately it brought no cure or diagnosis.
I am now thirty three and was desperate to live a normal life when I was told about ITRM. On learning about their practice I thought how could a chiropractor help me and discounted their services initially as I now know that I was being very narrow minded and naïve.
I finally decided to visit them through desperation and had my eyes well and truly opened!
The moment you walk into the practice it is relaxing but professional. Aidan, Victoria and Rachel make you feel so at ease and able to talk. I call them by their first names because they make you feel like friends as well as their patients.
Within the first consultation I had learned more about the human body and how it worked than I had ever imagined. The expertise of the doctors amazed me and within two weeks they had diagnosed the problem and started to treat it with dramatic results. Not bad to say I have lived with his misery for fifteen years.
I felt like finally I had found people that wanted to and were able to help and they have made me feel like a person not like a burden or just a number.
There is light at the end of the tunnel!
I am finally becoming free from my own private hell where I went nowhere alone in case I went dizzy and I could not concentrate for any length of time as it felt like I was being hit over the head with a sledge hammer.
I am now on the road to recovery but it is not easy for them or me to turn back the clock and I admit they have really got their work cut out with me but I owe them a lot and I am very grateful for all they have done for me to date.
So, if you are suffering and do not know where to turn, give them a chance.
It is the best decision I have ever made. Why live a half life when you can have a full one with the help of ITRM.
Mr Troy Raywood – August 2008
PS: Yara, practice manager, has done a brilliant job of making the practice run well and making the reception area welcoming but professional at the same time. Jayne the receptionist will go to any lengths to make your visit as comfortable and relaxed as possible; nothing is too much trouble for her. A very professional team all round - which reflects in their work ethic and practice.
Around the age of thirteen I changed schools involving a long bus journey. I could never get comfortable sitting, my back ached, and I had shooting pains down my legs. I seemed to be the only one shuffling to get comfy during lessons.
Eventually my knee began giving way for no reason. My GP referred me to a physiotherapist. He said my knees seemed to be hyper extending and I had flat feet. I was given tape to stick behind my knees while exercising, my flat feet he thought could be significant and sent me to a podiatrist for insoles to be fitted. These had little effect, Not a lot more was done and nothing much was made of other aches and pains.
Aged 14 onwards I undertook GCSE Personal Education (P.E) as I love sport, even though I often had discomfort in my lower back and hips. On top of this I was prone to asthma so my inhalers became necessary as my sport increased for the exams.
As time moved on I went to college where one of my A Levels was P.E. Badminton tournaments, circuit training and eventually 10 km runs became a big part of my routine. At the same time I was in constant pain with shooting pains right down my legs and toes. My asthma inhalers were being used constantly all the time, but the discomfort I was in became too much. One day after training for a forthcoming run my feet both became numb along the top.
The physiotherapist then thought something more could be going on so he sent me to a back specialist who arranged a back x-ray. This came back normal and I was then referred to an orthopaedic consultant at Lincoln County Hospital. I was given a four month appointment so my mother increasingly worried and paid to see him. He suggested an MRI (another six month wait). So again we paid and it showed hardly anything, a slight prolapse of the disc was suggested. For the pain he could do a procedure called a cordal epidural and facet joint injections (another 6 month wait).
Two months later I was really struggling to carry on with my A Level P.E. and hated taking strong painkillers as they practically knocked me out. My problem then declined further as my legs began to give way causing me to drop to the floor without warning, until I was on crutches all the time.
My operation was brought forward, my mother managed to talk to the consultant before the operation, he was shocked at my deterioration and suggested if it wasn’t a success, further tests and perhaps a neurologist’s opinion needed to be sought.
The operation didn’t ease my pain or help me in anyway so numerous blood-tests and another MRI was taken, but nothing showed. My weakness which was very significant baffled him so I was referred to a neurologist at Hallamshire hospital in Sheffield. He was concerned as none of the neurological tests fitted the pattern of known conditions. I was admitted the same night for a brain scan. Over the following night I had also a lumbar puncture and an ENG test. As each test proved negative the attitude of staff changed towards me and stress came up more than once when I was being talked to.
This stressed me more than any stress I had in my everyday life. I was upset and confused as I was discharged with the same problems, only now I was also very down with no where to turn for help. Only now they thought I had a physiological problem and referred me for counselling.
My own GP cast doubt on this and didn’t send me as he didn’t think it was going to achieve anything. My symptoms were so debilitating yet I felt they thought it was all in my mind!
Up until this point I had been taking inhalers constantly for years and as my asthma is mainly exercised induced, I began to stop taking them, as I was leading a very sedentary life by now.
Over the following week I noticed my back pain (which I’d had for years) disappeared and my leg weakness improved, I was managing until 1 pm on a good day without crutches. I’d almost forgotten what it was like not to have a constant aching back.
After 6 weeks I developed a chest cold and began taking my inhalers again to avoid breathing problems. My back ache came back over night along with my leg weakness. Once my inhalers were stopped again my back ache went and weakness in my legs gradually improved.
The GP didn’t respond much other than to change inhalers for another concoction. Every time we had to use them we had the same setback.
As a last resort we started to seek out other opinions for my condition. Luckily my neighbours suggested a chiropractic clinic they knew was very good.
We had a consultation with E. Phillips who listened intently to everything we knew. She quickly referred us to someone who specialised in this area, which was Aidan Robinson.
Our first consultation was amazing we came out on such a high. He was the first medical professional to listen to the whole problem without preaching on the small area they specialised in. He was open to all aspects of my life even down to the way I sat down. My breathing technique was looked at and I was taught a better way to breathe so I didn’t need my inhalers so much.
My problem was and is complex but he knew how to help me walk without straining my body. I was given a Gait Scan which showed the amount of straining my body was under each time I walked. Some sophisticated insoles were prescribed for my feet which instantly helped my leg strength, correcting my body as I walked or stood.
Above all he gave us hope and simple explanations for my years of problems. As far as we are concerned he has changed my life around after years of not knowing what was wrong!
It is still very early days and it isn’t an overnight cure, I have to wear my insoles all the time and each week at the start my joints were re-aligned to help my body adjust to the proper position.
The marked improvement we can see each week is more than we dared hope for. If only we’d come here first and not as a last resort
Miss Sara Otter – October 2007
It’s been a long journey to get to this point, I was very sceptical whether a chiropractor could help my eleven year old daughter with DYSPRAXIA - CLUMSY CHILD syndrome but Aidan Robinson had been recommended to me by a very good friend.
At the initial consultation Aidan Robinson could see how my daughter was struggling with movement and coordination and said he could make such a difference to her everyday life - at this point we were still sceptical and I guess it was because we didn’t really fully understand what Chiropractic Treatment is all about. Knowing this, Aidan Robinson took time to explain it not just to me but to my daughter too . This really helped to build up a level of trust between us.
We have been coming for 6 months now and what a difference it has made to my daughters life! - her posture, walking and movements are fluid, even her teachers have noticed a big improvement during PE lessons and how much more responsive she is!
We are extremely happy with the results and we are now very happy to recommend to parents out there to get their kids checked out at ITRM
Mrs Bruines – Mar 2008
We a very pleased to be able to show you some of our positive feedback from our patients.
The speed at which babies turn into toddlers, with all the attendant development, seems to happen virtually over night and any caring parent has to keep a sharp eye open that everything is progressing normally ( if the average toddler can be called normal !!).
One thing we did notice about our daughter Brooke, now three years old, was that she appeared to have very flat feet and there was a strong tendency to walk and take her weight on inside of them. Obviously, the first person I approached about the matter was our health visitor who agreed with my concern and promptly referred Brooke to the hospital. After examination Brooke was supplied with a standard type inner sole which we were assured would greatly assist in forming her arches correctly. After about a year it was obvious that the inner soles were making negligible, if no, difference, not to mention the nightmare of trying to buy shoes that would fit correctly and comfortably using the soles.
Something had to be done, and quickly. If left alone things like this do not get better on their own and can and do only get worse.
Aiden was recommended to me by my brother and after a short while considering I made an appointment for an initial consultation. I must be honest and admit I came away feeling slightly sceptical as to whether this sort of treatment would help Brooke. I decided that, irrespective of cost Aidan’s treatment would be worth a try, what did we have to loose after all?
Brooke has been receiving regular treatment since January of this year and, with no pun intended, has improved by leaps and bounds. Although there is obviously some work yet to do, she is now running and jumping around just as a young girl of her age should be. (and don’t I know it !!! ). She no longer appears to be dragging herself about as if the mere act of walking was a monumental struggle. Her flat feet were also starting to have a knock- on effect on her knees and hips, not something which may be obvious until pointed out, but after a few treatments we noticed a distinct improvement in those areas as well. As a bonus it appears that Aidan has also treated children for problems concerning speech and sleeping. Brooke has been noticeably slow in developing her speech and Aidan felt sure he could help in this area as well. He has, and Brooke’s speech is rapidly becoming much clearer and more precise and her pronunciation of sometimes “difficult” letters such as “s” has noticeably improved.
In spite of my initial scepticism and misgivings, I am more than pleased as the general level of improvement in Brooke feet, posture and speech. Based on our experience I would have no hesitation in recommending that this sort of treatment should, at the very least, be given very serious consideration by any parent who harbours serious concerns of a similar nature.Ps. I should add that Brooke thoroughly enjoys the treatment which is very gentle and she now has a chest full of stickers for being good!!! .
Mrs Nicholson – July 2007
“I was very sceptical about coming to see a Chiropractor. I was unsure if my ankle injury could be treated without surgery and I was unsure if a Chiropractor could treat this type of injury. I had a preconception that Chiropractic treatment was exclusively to the back and spine, how wrong I was! My best friend recommended that I made an appointment to see Aidan Robinson, I was still unsure about the advice but it turned out to be some of the best advice I have taken.
After an initial consultation with Aidan Robinson he explained what was happening as a result of sustaining the ankle injury 7 years ago. Aidan Robinson explained things clearly to me and further explained how he could treat my problems over the coming weeks.
I then booked a series of appointments that have resulted in me feeling like I have a new body and my ankle in particular is much stronger and is starting to feel like it used to 7 years ago. I have no doubt that as well as treating my injury and correctly aligning my body, the treatments have enhanced my athletic performance whilst playing rugby. This season I have been stronger, more flexible, and generally a lot sharper.
My only regret is that I did not receive the treatment 7 years ago when I initially sustained the injury that gave me 7 years of discomfort that I put up with. I have and I would advise anybody to see a Chiropractor - the results are amazing."
David Wilson, November 2006
“I have visited a Chiropractor for the last 20 years and have been seeing Aidan Robinson for nearly 4 years. I can’t recommend him and his staff or chiropractic treatment enough – he has always taken the time to carefully explain what is wrong and how it is going to be treated and I now visit approximately every 3 months. He is also treating my son, aged 7, who we think is on the autistic spectrum. Chiropractic treatment has definitely helped with his movement problems and he does seem calmer”
Caroline McMinn, June 2006-07-05
"I visited Aidan in Sept 2004 after being referred by another 'satisfied customer' with what I called a 'Frozen Shoulder'. I was impressed right from the start with the thorough nature of the initial assessment, and Aidan carefully explained what had gone wrong and how we were going to treat it. I have now recovered about 95% movement which is fantastic and getting better all the time."
